There was a time when running even a mile felt out of reach. For years, I carried extra weight
and the limits that came with it — limits I had quietly accepted. I learned that every barrier
I thought was permanent could be moved with enough patience, effort, and belief.
Running a half marathon isn’t just about crossing a finish line. It’s about proving to myself
that anything is possible. And it’s about using that belief to make a difference.
In April 2026, I’ll be running the
Brooklyn Experience Half Marathon
in honor of my Uncle Edwy, who we lost to colorectal cancer in 2021. Every mile is a tribute
to him and to every family touched by this disease. Through this race, I’m raising money for
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center,
two organizations that bring hope, healing, and life-saving care to those who need it most.
This run is my way of breaking past limits — both mine and the ones that cancer imposes on too many lives.
